Editorial policy and corrections

A wrong figure here can cost a family an objection or skew a care home decision. This page says where every number comes from and what happens when one is wrong.

Responsibility

Content and calculators are the responsibility of Radif Partners. Contact: kontakt@pflegegradrechnen.de.

Primary sources only

  • gesetze-im-internet.de: Book XI of the Social Code with Annexes 1 and 2 to section 15, Books VI and XII, the Income Tax Act and the carer leave acts as in force;
  • Federal Ministry of Health: benefit overviews, the official notice of benefit amounts, the status of bills;
  • vdek (association of substitute health funds): care home co-payments by state on 1 January and 1 July;
  • German Pension Insurance: reference value, average pay, pension value;
  • state authorities, such as the Bavarian State Office for Care for the state care allowance.

Blogs, placement portals and other calculators are not sources, however high they rank.

Checks before every release

170 values from the vdek tables, every boundary of the scoring system and the worked examples in the law run as automated tests. One deviating value stops the release.

Schedule

A full review at least every 12 months, after each vdek release (January and July), after every amendment to Book XI and at the latest for the indexation on 1 January 2028. Bills are described as drafts and never built into a calculator before they are law.

Corrections

  1. Check against the primary source.
  2. Fix in the parameter file or the calculator and add a test that catches the error in future.
  3. New date on every page; a substantive correction is noted on the page concerned.

Independence

No money from care home operators, care services, live-in carer agencies, insurers or stairlift makers, and no recommendation of individual providers.
